Project Description
Big Water Consulting created a coalition with United Way of King County, Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle, King County and Pyramid Communications which was funded by the Washington State Office of Financial Management to conduct 2020 Census outreach and education in King County, Washington. The scope of the effort was later expanded to cover the entire State of Washington and the Washington Census Alliance and Na’a Illahee Fund joined the core team.
In partnership with community-based organizations, the coalition has developed tailored messaging, an array of printed outreach and education materials, and the wecountwashington.org web page as a web-based resource for sharing this information. Big Water Consulting provided technical assistance for this project in the form of training for United Way tax preparation/benefits navigator volunteers and several community-based partners, a web-based map illustrating predicted and actual 2020 Census response rates to facilitate targeted outreach, regular data updates highlighting low response areas, and a web-based knowledge base providing answers to specific questions concerning the 2020 Census and updating partners and the public about changes to the timeline and process related to technical issues and the COVID-19 pandemic.
